SILOMASTERS, a leading Spanish leading grain silo and steel structures manufacturer, has successfully completed the supply and erection of storage silos for the largest almond processing factory in Europe.
The new built factory is located in Miajadas(Spain) and will be a centre for the reception, cleaning, threshing, drying, storage and shelling of almonds, with a capacity of more than 90,000 tonnes of almonds in shell.
To secure the integrity of almonds and avoid the breakage SiloMasters installed hopper silos equipped with speed reducers, calculated and simulated with specific flow analysis software, thus providing the additional protection for the valuable product.
To ensure the arrival of the product in the market under optimal conditions and without any production losses SiloMasters designed the special aeration system and supplied devices which measure the temperature and humidity inside the silos, and specially optimized for this product. A certain number of silos were equipped with FIFO counterhoppers.
A total of 24 hopper silos (16 Hopper bottom silos model I0817-60º, 4 Hopper silos model I0310-60º and 4 Hopper bottom silos model I0405-60º) were supplied for the project with a total storage capacity of 19.380 cubic meters.
The SiloMasters wall sheets design features the shallow corrugation to facilitate the fast unload of the product and ease of cleaning thus satisfying the requirements of the plant and the customer.
As part of the requirements of the project complete structural calculation reports for silos and steel structures was issues by SiloMasters.
All SiloMasters silos including catwalks and supports are made of high resistance galvanized steel S450GD, according to EN 10346, with a high elastic limit. This steel is ideal for the manufacturing of structural elements and parts that will be subjected to high dynamic and static stresses. Thanks to its high elastic limit, this steel allows SiloMasters to reduce the weight of its silo products and accessories, which is advantageous for the logistics, assembly, and handling of components.
This project starts the cooperation between SiloMasters and ISFA. This plant is designed for scalable growth and is expected to process 90,000 tonnes of almonds in shell and 90,000 tonnes of almond kernels.
